I like that there is so little drama, just scripture discrepancy. I love Bart Ehrman, (another famous author that seeks out truth) but feel like I'm pushing through so much fluff to get a little information. Now don't miss read this as a criticism of Burt, I have great respect for his knowledge. Own most of his books. He is one of the people that brought me closer to Christ. Now about this book, for me it is more straight forward, showed the discrepancy with the Moody bible explanation, or some other persons opinion about why it is not a discrepancy. 90 percent of the time I agree with Dr. Jonah David Conner, the other 10 percent I'm just not sure he is correct in his view of the scripture being in conflict with each other. But understand after years of being told the Bible is in-errant and true from cover to cover with no mistakes, this great men have done a wonderful thing by showing these flaws. God is so much bigger than this book. I still believe the essence of the bible is true but now know that God is not limited by it.So in summary, for the person who does not speak or read fluent Greek, this will be a real eye opener.I am fortunate that I can pull these scriptures up alongside each other and make my decisions as I show in my monitors setup in the picture for that reason. It is easy to follow and hard to argue with. LOLThanks for reading.

I use this product frequently when I do not feel like leafing through the bible to counter claims such as "god is all loving" or "we should base our lives off of the bible". Seriously it seems like most religious people have not even read the book. This book also includes translation problems, additions and subtractions that have been made to the bible, and problems with the"morality" of the book in general. Overall a very informative and useful book with an author who is well versed on the subject and has solid credentials.

Several things the author claims to be a contradiction comes from his english translation of the Tanahk (Old Testament) and are not contradictory in the hebrew. It seems the author has very little understanding of the Bible and uses his own understanding in error to point out that parts dont match what he percieves to be the truth.

I grew up in a devout Christian household. My parents were Mormons and very involved in their church. I read the Bible all the way through when I was a teenager. I noticed at that time a lot of things that didn't really make sense to me. For example, even then it seemed odd to me that God would spend so much time on ridiculous stuff, like page after page of detailed plans for the tabernacle. But I had faith, so I mainly looked for insight into how I could understand God better and become closer to Him. It never occurred to me to look in the Bible for contradictions or moral absurdities. I wish I'd had this book back then. I might have left the Church much sooner and avoided a lot of wasted time and effort.I especially appreciated the arguments in Chapter 1.2, on why arguing that scribal errors created all the Biblical problems can't save the Bible. In Mormonism this business about translation and scribal errors is a central tenet of the faith, one of the reasons why the gospel had to be restored by the prophet Joseph Smith. But this doesn't explain why God would let his original revelation get corrupted.I like Conner's statement on page 18 that "I went to scripture looking to gain concrete evidence for my beliefs in order to better defend the faith, but what I found greatly disappointed me." Conner's book provides a perspective on the Bible that you are not likely to hear about from your pastor. Read it and decide for yourself. I recommend Conner's book for all Christians. Would be a great choice to consider during your Bible study.I would like to mention one more incident that belongs in Chapter 2.3 on factual absurdities and exaggerations. Judges 15:1-6 tells of a time when Samson caught three hundred foxes, tied their tails together two by two, put a firebrand between each pair of foxes, and released them into the corn and vineyards of the Philistines. This burned up their crops. I think anyone who considers this incident for even a few minutes will suspect that it probably didn't happen. How did Samson catch the foxes: running around like the Flash? Did he have cages or bags to hold 300 foxes? How did he get the foxes to hold still while he's tying them up and burning their tails? Why bother with torturing foxes anyway since God could have just sent a lightning bolt? Why did God hate the Philistines so much? Aren't they God's children, too? Couldn't he have a sent a missionary instead? Why do miracles for Samson, who was not exactly a guy noted for his piety, when thousands of prayers for desperately needed miracles go unanswered every day?Another omission from Chapter 2.1 on moral absurdities is the atonement itself. If God wants to forgive our sins, why require a punishment that the sinner can't pay? Why is the torture and death of an innocent person required?

a pamphlet, NOT a poorly written book.....save your money for better....

Very valid points in some areas; other areas reaching.

Excellent compilation of the conflicting verses throughout both testaments of the modern bible. Impossible to not recognize after finishing this pamphlet that this literary work (the Bible), while beautifully written and inspiring, is nothing but an inconsistent fable.

Nice info!
